Enhanced transcript of board member Ella Mae Lentz on ways you can give to the Deafhood Foundation.

Give. How?

The heart of Deafhood Foundation is building a healthy endowment fund. It’s important to have this fund grow as consistently as possible. This will provide the Foundation adequate funding for the Foundation’s four main activities: consulting, outreach, networking and providing grants.

To ensure the growth, it is critical that we give to the Foundation. Basically we can give in two ways, through cash or assets.

CASH - here are a few ways you can give cash:

  1. Click on the “Donate” button on this website. You can either make a one-time donation or set up a regular donation (monthly, quarterly, annually, etc) that will be automatically done through your bank or credit card.

  2. Host a fundraising event such as a house party where you can provide a special dinner and invite guests, and present about the Foundation for them to donate for the dinner.  You can also host a movie, show, bake sale, etc. and give the proceedings to the Foundation.

  3. Give in honor of special people in your lives -- to remember their birthdays, in honor of their awards, or to celebrate their lives on Earth.

ASSETS are valuable things you can donate to the Foundation WITHOUT giving cash, such as real estate, jewelry, gems, antiques, stocks, trusts, secondary pensions, things that you may benefit more by giving to a non-profit organization like the Foundation. In some instances, you can continue to live on the property or draw benefits from the asset according to the agreement made between you and the Foundation. It is exciting to know there are quite a few options we all can choose to extend support to the Foundation’s mission and vision and be part of its growth and success.

Please feel free to review the information on the PowerPoint slides posted here on ways you can give to the Foundation, and then contact Danny or whoever can help you with a “personal illustration”, a procedure you can work through your lawyer or CPA to explore and confirm the giving that best fits you.

We thank you for your interest and continued support to ensure the Foundation’s success in providing grants and other services to the community surrounding Deaf people to prepare an audism-free world where being Deaf is fine, where people continue to inspire and create excellence in visual and Deaf-centered ways of life for themselves and the future generations of Deaf children.

Please give! Thank you!
